Sauris (UD): an example of quality policies
In 1983 Sauris was the 1st Municipality to benefit from a Regional law whose aim was to protect environmental, historical and artistic values to answer to the distruction carried out by the earthquake of 1976 that layed waste in many towns of the territory. So, the local community conceived the "Sauris Project" to provide the town important infrastructures, to recover valuable buildings without upsetting their urban and architectural order and to create the essential requirement to make Sauris become a "tourist town" with the subsequent realization of the "Albergo Diffuso", an innovative tourist hospitality structure. The Albergo Diffuso counts on 28 flats (130 sleeping accomodations) situated in traditional buildings in different historical Sauris areas. Together with the Albergo Diffuso, local administrations have promoted the same valorisation of other hospitality structures.
