Climate Change Community Action Plan 2010 to 2020 of Middlesbrough, UK
Middlesbrough has, on an affordable budget, developed a successful Climate Change Community Action Plan through extensive consultation with all sectors of the community. This 12 month consultation employed a wide variety of media and engagement techniques. Key to our award-winning success is the strong commitment of the elected Mayor, other key politicians, and top managers in Middlesbrough Council, along with high quality technical input and enthusiastic participation of partner organisations.
The Community Action Plan launched in 2004 is delivered effectively through annual work programmes overseen by the Middlesbrough Climate Change Partnership. Between 2005 and 2009, carbon dioxide emissions for Middlesbrough were reduced by an estimated 50,000 tonnes.
