MADRID, Spain Energy and material recycling in Madrid: integrated waste management model
Waste treatment and energy recovery from waste
in the city of Madrid represents numerous
environmental benefits, including saving of natural
resources, preventing the release of greenhouse
gases (GHG) emissions and providing a resource to produce renewable energy. Using an integrated
concept to waste management based on a modular approach, the implementation of a wide range of
actions helps the city move forward with its climate protection concept and reduces the need for landfill.
