FREIBURG IM BREISGAU, Germany Organising key local actors in the Climate Strategy
A city with a long history of environmental awareness and action, Freiburg is a renowned solar and green city, which has systematically been addressing climate protection. Through a combination of energy savings, energy efficiency and renewable energy, it presents a diversity of local climate action, also highlighting the need for municipal leadership and community involvement. The latest Climate Protection Strategy 2030 - aiming for a 40% reduction of CO2 by 2030 – reaffirms that climate change mitigation as a longterm priority. This also requires effective coordination and involving a wide range of actors -
making it a challenging, yet rewarding task.
